Carnival Elation Rooms Are Spacious by Industry Standards
A variety of games, seminars, karaoke and other entertainment take place around the ship throughout the day. One look at the Fun Times schedule of events, and you'll find there is too much to do on just one cruise. These include health seminars, art classes, Yahtzee sessions led by the entertainment staff, trivia, master mixologist competitions and more. When you go for one of the largest, most luxurious rooms - and balcony - available on Carnival Elation, you get a room designed to suit your desire for comfort, inside and out. Add VIP check-in, a huge balcony, and even a convenient dressing area with vanity and you can begin to see just how extraordinarily comfy the entire experience can be.
Nightlife on Carnival Elation
Standard Carnival Elation room amenities include two twin beds that can be pushed together to form a king, closets, drawers and shelving for storage, a hair dryer, a mini-refrigerator and a safe. An ice bucket is provided, but passengers must request ice from their stateroom steward. Carnival Elation bathrooms are rather basic, featuring showers with plastic shower curtains, except in suites, which have shower/tub combos. Toiletries include shower gel and shampoo, as well as bar soap on the vanity.
Is Carnival Elation Family Friendly?
Though crowds can always be expected on a cruise, I found the lido deck on Carnival Elation to be perhaps the worst I've ever experienced on a ship. Even on the nicest days, I've never had to circle the deck like a hawk waiting for a seat to open up. They are larger at 330 to 348 square feet with balconies, upgraded amenities, priority boarding and debarkation, and reserved seating at shows. Between cabin doors, floor to ceiling tropical murals brighten the space. Interior cabin walls are bland beige, but the artwork suggests watercolor surf boards stacked on a beach. Bedding, towels and carpet were all in great shape, and the beds and pillows were comfortable. Even after a full day of action, passengers can keep going for hours after the sun sets. Live music is available around the ship, including in the atrium, at the Drama Bar, in the Romeo & Juliet Lounge, and in Duke's Piano Bar.

From the lack of storage to the stained floor and clingy shower curtain, it was a far cry from the bathroom I had while cruising onboard Carnival Celebration. Though it was obvious the ship has been well-maintained throughout the years, including an extensive dry dock in 2017, the limited number of dining choices and onboard activities left much to be desired. Lack of onboard amenities
Some dishes fell short compared to those I had on Carnival Conquest, Vista, and Celebration; however, venues like Guy's Burger Joint and BlueIguana remained fairly consistent. Typically, I don't worry about unpacking the products inside of my hanging toiletries organizer; however, I didn't have a choice on Carnival Elation! There simply was not enough space for all of our products in the bathroom. Also accommodating two passengers, the Interior Upper/Lower stateroom utilizes a twin bed and either a pull-down or sofa bed.

Overlooking the ocean below, the Carnival Elation fitness center is outfitted with cardiovascular equipment (treadmills, ellipticals, exercise bikes), free weight machines, hand weights and exercise balls. In addition, fitness classes are available for a fee; for a free option check out the early morning or evening stretch classes offered on various days during the cruise. A Carnival Elation Interior Upper/Lower stateroom creatively maximizes space for a pair of cruisers.
Satisfy that craving for something tasty at the Pizza Pirate, known for its popular hand-tossed pizza. Stop in for specialty coffees, rich milkshakes and scrumptious desserts at the Musical Café. In 2019 (March 2-26) the ship entered drydock at Grand Bahama Shipyard (Freeport Bahamas). During the refurbishment, aft on Deck 9/Promenade (in the space previously occupied by the Cole Porter lounge) were added 30 new staterooms and the Alchemy Bar. The new cabins' modules were delivered by ALMACO (drydocking project's management company). No cruise to The Bahamas is complete without a little bit of fun in the warm Caribbean air.
Now, it offers a similar experience to what you’ll get on any Carnival ship. Out of nineteen cruises, twelve have departed from South Florida. I've also cruised out of Los Angeles; Port Canaveral; Genova, Italy; and, most recently, Jacksonville. As of April 2024, Carnival Elation is the only ship that sails out of Jacksonville, making it one of the smallest cruise ports in Florida. Norwegian Gem will begin sailing from the port seasonally in late 2025.
The buffet is at Tiffany’s Restaurant at the back of Deck 10. There’s also Guy’s Burger Joint, the Carnival Deli, Pizza Pirate and Blue Iguana Cantina in the same area. I really liked this layout, because food is prepared to order at each of these places. And, unlike many ships, we didn’t encounter super long lines at any of the casual dining areas or the buffet.
